Show notes:
In the first segment, our panelists discuss National Freedom Day, which honors the end of slavery and the ideals of liberty. The conversation examines Abraham Lincoln’s motivations behind the Emancipation Proclamation and the 13th Amendment. Was his decision driven by political necessity or personal faith? Panelists reflect on the legacy of Lincoln, the role of religion, and the importance of continuing to celebrate freedom in America.
In the second segment of the show, we explore the court case Crosspoint v. Makin, where a religious school seeks public tuition funding from the state of Maine while requesting exemptions from anti-discrimination laws. At issue is whether religious institutions can receive public money while refusing to comply with civil rights protections. The panel considers how constitutional freedoms intersect with government efforts to ensure equal access and protection under the law.
