Show notes:
In the first segment, our panelists discuss President Trump’s new commission on religious liberty, chaired by Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick. The conversation explores the meaning and future of church-state separation, Trump’s remarks about “bringing religion back,” and the executive branch’s renewed commitment to religious freedom. Panelists examine how the founding principles of religious liberty are interpreted today and what role religion should play in American public life and policy.
In the second segment of the show, we explore the court case St. Joseph Parish v. Nessel, where a Catholic school in Michigan challenges a new civil rights law that prohibits discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity—without religious exemptions. The parish argues the law threatens its ability to hire staff and operate according to Catholic doctrine. The panel weighs legal protections for religious organizations against anti-discrimination rights.
