Show notes:

In the first segment, our panelists discuss the case of Russell “Rusty” Trubey, a longtime Pennsylvania VA chaplain removed from his duties after preaching a sermon from the Book of Romans. Following complaints and a police response, Trubey was reassigned to stocking shelves and subjected to an investigation. The panel examines whether requiring prior approval of sermons and punishing chaplains for content raises serious concerns about religious freedom, free speech, and the role of chaplaincy in government institutions.

In the second segment of the show, we explore the court case Davis v. Ermold, stemming from Kim Davis’ refusal to issue marriage licenses to a same-sex couple after the Supreme Court’s Obergefell decision. Despite court orders, Davis continued denying licenses, citing religious beliefs. The case resulted in damages awarded to the couple and a 6th Circuit ruling against Davis. Now, she is asking the Supreme Court to revisit both her case and the constitutional right to same-sex marriage.
