Show notes:

In the first segment, our panelists discuss the historical roots of church–state separation, tracing how early abuses of state-sponsored religion shaped the First Amendment. The conversation examines America’s legacy of protecting minority rights, the expansion of equality over time, and growing concerns that dominant religious groups now wield political power in ways that may undermine fairness and constitutional principles.

In the second segment of the show, we explore the court case Chabad Israeli Center, Inc. v. Loggers’ Run, Inc., where an Orthodox Jewish family alleges antisemitic harassment and discrimination by their homeowners association. The case centers on efforts to block a synagogue needed for Sabbath worship, unequal treatment compared to Christian churches, and a judge’s decision allowing the lawsuit to move forward.
