Show notes:

In the first segment, our panelists discuss a Justice Department investigation into the City of Rainsville, Alabama, over allegations that it unlawfully blocked a Christian addiction-recovery program. The conversation examines how federal civil rights laws protect people in recovery from discrimination, the role of faith-based ministries in rehabilitation, and whether local governments can lawfully exclude religious organizations serving vulnerable populations.

In the second segment of the show, we explore the court case Garner v. Southern Baptist Convention. The discussion focuses on whether the First Amendment protects a religious denomination’s ability to conduct internal inquiries into allegations of pastoral misconduct without facing defamation lawsuits, and what the case could mean for church autonomy and accountability nationwide.
