Show notes:
In the first segment, our panelists discuss the growing debate over displaying the Ten Commandments in public school classrooms across Louisiana, Arkansas, and Texas. While supporters say these laws affirm moral and historical values, opponents argue they blur the line between church and state. With courts striking down such mandates as unconstitutional, the discussion turns to what it really means for government actions to have a “secular purpose” — and whether faith-based messages can coexist within public education.
In the second segment of the show, we explore the court case Gudrun Kristofersdottir v. CVS Health Corporation, in which a nurse practitioner was fired after CVS reversed its long-standing accommodation for her religious objections to prescribing hormonal contraceptives. Despite years of faithful service and prior agreements allowing referrals, CVS implemented a no-exceptions policy in 2021. After her termination, Gunna’s attorneys reached a confidential settlement, underscoring ongoing tensions between corporate policy and religious conscience rights.
